ποΈββοΈπͺ Meet Jim Arrington: The 90-Year-Old Bodybuilder Whoβs Still Crushing It!
Source: guinnessworldrecords
Hey, let's chat about this muscle grandpa, Jim Arrington, who's been lifting weights for longer than most of us have been alive! First broke records as the world's oldest bodybuilder at 83, and now at 90, he's still rocking it, and not just in the gym, but also in competitions. Recently, he placed third in the men's over-70s and first in the over-80s at an event in Reno, Nevada.
The dude's got a killer body, though it hasn't always been this way. Born premature and with asthma, Jim was always sick as a kid. But at 15, he was like, "Nope, I'm done with this," and started lifting weights to become his own version of a superhero.
Jim's secret sauce? He changes things up. He's adapted his workouts and diet as he's aged, swapping out milk and beef for things like olive oil and mushrooms. He's been a bodybuilder for over 50 years, competing at famous spots like Muscle Beach. The dude even has a Guinness World Records title which he says has "opened an entire new universe" for him.
And here's a kicker: he's not even satisfied with his own physique, which keeps him going and outlasting the competition. He suggests that everybody should have a Guinness World Record, but he knows only a few can actually do it. Jim, you're the real MVP! πͺπ΄ποΈββοΈ (Source)
π¬π₯ 81-Year-Old Man Survives Harsh Winter Week in California Thanks to Croissants and Candy
Source: Inyo County Sheriffβs Office β Facebook
This is a heart-stopping survival tale of an 81-year-old man, Jerry Jouret, a former NASA employee, who got stranded alone for nearly a week on a deserted California highway due to a severe snowstorm. All he had to survive on were croissants, candy, and biscotti.
Jerry's family got worried when he didn't arrive in Gardnerville, his destination about 3 hours from his Big Pine mountain house. The mathematician had started his journey during clear weather but a snowstorm hit before he could reach his destination.
Over the next few days, continuous winter storms rocked the region, making it tough for the Inyo Countyβs Search and Rescue team to start a search along Highway 168 for a day. CNN reports that Jerry was caught off guard, dressed only in a light windbreaker and a thin quilt and hotel towel to keep warm.
Jerry displayed wisdom by conserving his car battery and fuel, only starting his SUV periodically to keep warm. He even ate snow to stay hydrated, but this strategy went south when the battery died while he was rolling up the window, leaving it stuck open a few inches for the rest of his time stranded.
After two unsuccessful attempts to find Jerry, he was finally located on March 2nd. A helicopter pilot found him waving from his car's partially open window. Jerry was rescued and was discharged from the hospital later that evening, having suffered only from dehydration.
The Inyo County Sheriffβs Office took this incident as an opportunity to remind everyone about the importance of preparation and having a safety plan when traveling, especially through mountainous regions. Stay safe and always pack extra supplies. Jerry's incredible survival story underlines the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of being prepared. π¨οΈπ(Source)
π’ Passenger Mysteriously Disappears After 'Leaping' Overboard as Cruise Ship Heads Back to Florida
Hey there, some rather serious news coming in. A 30-year-old man has gone missing from a Carnival cruise ship off the Florida coast. The ship was returning from a four-day Bahamas trip, and his friend only realized he was gone when he didn't show up all day. After looking at the CCTV footage, it seems like he jumped off the ship. π
The U.S. Coast Guard is on it, searching about 95 nautical miles east of Melbourne, Florida. The search team includes guys from St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Miami.
Meanwhile, Carnival is all "Our thoughts are with them and the guest" and is offering support to the guy's family.
By the way, it's the second time in two months someone's gone overboard from a Carnival ship near Florida. Last time, after a massive search, the Coast Guard had to call it quits. Pretty heavy stuff, right? π’ππ (Source)
