๐Ÿ—“๏ธ On this day in 1988, it was 8/8/88, and the Chicago Cubs held their first night game at Wrigley Field. They had to wait a while for this one since Wrigley was the last Major League Baseball park to get lights. Talk about lighting up the night in a big way! โšพ๐Ÿ’ก That's a lot of eights in one day, huh? Sometimes history just has a quirky way of lining things up!

๐Ÿป "Hank the Tank," the notorious bear responsible for 21 home break-ins, has been nabbed near Lake Tahoe

So, there's this enormous black bear that people around South Lake Tahoe have nicknamed "Hank the Tank." This furry bandit has been blamed for breaking into 21 homes, and it turns out "Hank" is actually a mama bear, formally known as Bear 64F, with three mischievous cubs! DNA testing busted the myth of the one-bear crime spree, revealing that 64F was responsible for 21 of those break-ins. The community started defending "Hank," blaming unsecured trash and habitat issues, and now the bear family is off to a Colorado sanctuary.

The "Hank the Tank" legend led to some policy changes in Tahoe Keys, with residents now being able to use bear-proof containers. One local veterinarian emphasizes that keeping a "bear-safe" community is a human responsibility, so no more leaving out those 2-gallon tubs of ice cream for dessert-craving bears. Henrietta and her cubs will be rehabilitated, and hopefully, they'll learn to be a bit more wild and a lot less suburban! ๐Ÿฆ (Source)

๐Ÿš— Car Takes Flight and Lands in Second-Floor Bedroom, Police Say It Was No Accident!

In a scene right out of an action flick, a car flew into the air and crash-landed into the second-floor bedroom of a Pennsylvania home. The Junction Fire Company arrived on the scene to find the Toyota Corolla stuck in the roof, dangling above the front porch, with debris everywhere. Inside, the side of the car could be seen through a gaping hole where a wall used to be, and a bed flipped on its side. Emergency crews were able to stabilize the building and cover the hole, preparing for incoming storms.

The driver, who got out of the vehicle himself, was taken to the hospital, but luckily, no one inside the house was hurt. But here's the twist: Police believe this wasn't an accident. The fire company thinks the car hit a small culvert near the driveway, launching it into the air, and state troopers have determined that the crash was intentional, with charges now pending. Talk about a wild Sunday afternoon! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’ฅ (Source)

Luna, a 10-year-old German Shepherd who saved 38 lives during her eight-year career with Police Scotland, was recently honored with the Lifesaver Award at the Thin Blue Paw Awards gala. Partnered with Scottish police officer Linda McBride since Luna was 12 weeks old, this dynamic duo worked on searching and tracking high-risk missing people, with Luna even finding a fingertip that was bitten off in a fight. Linda says Luna's incredible natural ability and compassion towards those she helped made her an exceptional police dog.

Retired in June, Luna celebrated with her first-ever vacation, enjoying playtime on the beach and swimming in the sea. Living with Linda and her 91-year-old mother, along with a pair of active police dogs, Luna's bond with her handler is described as unbreakable. Her intuitive nature and strong work ethic even brought tears to Linda's eyes when she learned of Luna's award. Her retirement is well-deserved, but Linda knows, "Luna would continue to work if the choice was hers." ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿถ (Source)
