🗓️ Oh, check this out – February 13th is actually World Radio Day! Pretty cool, right? It's this global day to celebrate radio as a medium; to improve international cooperation between broadcasters and to encourage major networks and community radio alike to promote access to information, freedom of expression, and gender equality over the airwaves. Kind of awesome to think about how radio has been keeping us connected and entertained for ages, from spinning the latest hits to delivering news from around the world. So, if you've been jamming out to Spotify or podcasts lately, maybe give a nod to their ancestor today and tune into an actual radio station for old times' sake. 📻✨
This Tiny Moon of Saturn Is the Smallest Case of a Subsurface Ocean Ever Found in the Solar System

Hey, did you catch the latest cosmic scoop? Turns out, Saturn’s teeny moon Mimas is hiding a pretty big secret under its icy exterior – a subsurface ocean! Yep, that's right. We've been all hyped up about Enceladus and its hidden waters, but Mimas, this underdog moon that looks like a giant snowball (imagine California-sized), is stealing the spotlight. Scientists were poking around and found out there's an ocean down there, buried 12 to 18 miles deep, packing less water than the Mediterranean but hey, still impressive for a space pebble.
This revelation is a total game-changer for space buffs and alien hunters. We've always thought life started in the shallow seas here on Earth, so finding oceans out there on icy moons is like discovering secret alien hangouts. Mimas, with its Death Star look (thanks to a massive crater), was kind of ignored until now. But the latest brainy moves by researchers, using data from the Cassini spacecraft, suggest Mimas is more than just a pretty face in space. It’s got this whole ocean thing going on beneath its surface, which could mean it’s not as dead as we thought. Plus, this discovery might help solve a bunch of cosmic mysteries and even has folks rethinking the history of Saturn's rings and moons. So, next time you gaze up at the night sky, remember, there's a whole lot of wet and wild stuff happening out there! (Source)
TikToker 'Black Biden' details helping cops catch alleged child predator
Alleged child predator taken down outside Long Beach, Calif. fast food restaurant on Feb. 8, 2024. (@black_biden8383 Instagram/Provided to FOX 11 Los Angeles)
In a scene straight out of a vigilante movie, a dude known as "Black Biden" on the gram became a hero in Long Beach, California, after he helped the cops catch a suspected child predator. How? By pretending to be a 15-year-old boy online and setting up a fake date at a fast-food joint. When the suspect showed up, thinking he was meeting a teenager, things went south real quick. According to "Black Biden," the guy tried to bolt the second he realized he was caught in a sting. But our hero wasn't having any of it. In a bold move, he tripped the suspect as he tried to escape, allowing the police to swoop in. Talk about drama!
But wait, it gets even more intense. "Black Biden" wasn’t just about tripping bad guys; he was prepared to go all out to protect a child. He mentioned a moment during the takedown when he thought the suspect might try to snatch a cop's gun. That’s some serious action-hero stuff. And the internet? Totally here for it. His Instagram blew up with nearly 7,000 likes and a ton of praise for doing what many only talk about. Wearing a "big, hairy gray disguise," this guy has been behind several stings leading to convictions. Meanwhile, the suspect, identified as Cody Lane Oreiro, is facing charges for trying to meet a minor and resisting arrest. Hats off to "Black Biden" – not all heroes wear capes, but some do have epic disguises. (Source)
Doctor's diamond ring assumed lost in a pair of scrubs is found 100 miles away: 'A little miracle'
The ring traveled all the way from Suffolk to the Royal Free Hospital in London. ( Bruno Vincent/Getty Images)
Talk about a sparkling surprise! Dr. Radhika Ramasamy, an anesthesiologist with the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust in the U.K., had a bit of a washday whoopsie when her diamond ring got swept away with her scrubs. Picture this: one minute you're slipping your precious bling into your pocket during a hectic day of back-to-back procedures, and the next, it's MIA, presumed to be a casualty of the spin cycle. Ramasamy chalked it up as a lost cause, especially after realizing the ring was missing a whole day later and then facing a weekend delay before she could even report it missing. She figured the laundry machines had given her ring the ultimate test of durability.
But here's where the story takes a turn for the miraculous. Enter Suraj Shah, a fellow medic at the Royal Free Hospital in London, who's about to have his "Cinderella moment" putting on scrubs. A clatter, a sparkle, and lo and behold, there's Ramasamy's ring, not just surviving its unexpected journey but also hitching a ride nearly 100 miles away from its original location. After a bit of detective work and some top-notch honesty from Shah and the team, the ring made its way back to its rightful finger. Ramasamy was over the moon, grateful for the honesty and effort of everyone involved. It's a heartwarming reminder of the good in people, and a little nudge that maybe it's not such a bad idea to double-check those pockets, especially when they hold something as irreplaceable as a gift from a loved one.
